ABOUT US
Beach Cities
Parents of Multiples Association (BCPMA)
provides members a valuable and important link
to resources, research and support for our
unique family needs. Parents share experiences
with others in similar situations, offer advice
and solutions. We are support group and social
group!
With 195 member families, there are a total of
451 children in the club with 387 of them being
multiples. While it is obvious our smallest
family has two children, our largest family has
7. Our families average 2.43 children per
family, compared to the National average of 1.6
children per family. Sixty-six of our families
have at least three children, while 13 have four
and 1 has five or more children. While it is not
unusual for us to have children who share the
same birthday, it is unique to have twins with
different birthdays – we have two sets of twins
born on different days!
We have 23 sets
of identical twins – 13 sets are male and 10 are
female. There are 152 sets of fraternal twins;
75 sets are male/female, 37 sets are
female/female and 40 sets are male/male. There
are also 8 sets of triplets. Additionally, we
have 2 sets of fraternal quadruplets. One family
has multiple multiples (more than one set of
twins or triplets, or one set of each). Our
oldest multiples are 17, with the youngest being
added all the time! The average age of our
multiples is 2.8, with the ages broken down as
follows:
